Question: What do you get when you combine loud rock music and a large supply of monsters prepared to scare? Answer: An exciting brand of Halloween mayhem which we are now referring to as “Shock and Roll” Over the last couple of years, people have been coming up to us and saying “you must visit Farmaggedon” and when we say why; the reply is usually something along the lines of “its something else!” Finally after three years we got to find out what they meant. With the rock music blasting out and the crowd already buzzing before they got in (and the queue was huge), nobody really minded the wait on the way in. They all just wanted to get in, ourselves included. By the time we had made our way to the mazes we had already been scared by several monsters and in equal measure laughed at watching others being picked on! Roaming monsters are always a hit with the crowds and it surprises us that more places don’t do this. Despite there already being a large queue, groups were despatched into the maze, quickly and efficiently – something some of our larger more corporate establishments could do with! The event boasts two mazes; Insanity and Terror on the Farm, and both are both are epic in production, length and screams. With just the right mix of elaborate sets, dark corridors and full of monsters, both attractions conjurer up a good mix of emotions for their unsuspecting visitors. With so much going on within their walls it’s hard to describe or even remember each and every sequence… One thing that really stood out was the elaborate theming in places. From the two storey blue lit house façade full of dancing girls through to some of the detailed rooms found inside , there was usually no shortage of things to look at although a few rooms stood out as being basic after the elaborate nature of previous scenes. We also have to comment on the insane number of actors throughout the attraction who at all times were very enthusiastic and throwing themselves into their roles .The sheer number of monsters inside was incredible with multiple attacks happening throughout and we were never sure where they were going to appear from next My only real criticisms are that the groups seemed to be too large, so some scares were already obvious by the time we hit them. It also felt a bit like a ‘cattle market’ people seemed to be ushered to the mazes as they walked in, there was no real time to soak up the atmosphere. But, in conclusion we can see why Farmaggedon has established itself amongst the foremost haunts in the country and why it continues to attract awards and high praise and sell out every year! |
